There is a legitimate concern to conserve energy. It may not be as realistic to us when seen as a global concern but we as house managers actually practice it in our homes. When we monitor our energy consumption, collect data and initiate steps to minimize it, we are in effect practicing energy management. We shut down air conditioners when temperature goes down. We unplug appliances when they are not in use. These are steps meant to reduce our consumption of energy and that is one facet of energy management.

An energy management system is a structure used to monitor, control and optimize the performance of the generation and distribution of energy. The term usually refers to a system that makes use of computer-aided tools applicable to large buildings. It is definitely more complicated than how it is practiced by the housewife in the home. But the principle is the same. It is an effort to ensure that no energy is put to waste.
